Clifton House Bradford-on-Avon
Clifton House
Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire. BA15 1SL.
Clifton House, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire is situated 7 miles from the Roman and Georgian spa city of Bath, and ten miles from Junction 13 of the M4, one hundred miles west of London. The rail journey from London’s Paddington Station to Bath takes just over one hour and there is a rail connection to Bradford-on-Avon taking twenty minutes.
The property is L shaped and the ghost lurks down the far end. The Wheelers have heard ghostly footsteps and the family’s dogs cannot be persuaded to go down the haunted end of the house.
Clifton House was an old coaching inn. Opposite it is the local pub. The man who owned both properties in about 1850 was a local character used to travel everywhere on a tricycle. Once, travelling from from Bradford to Trowbridge, his dog jumped out of the tricycle basket, got tangled up in the wheels and unfortunately both were killed. Is it him who haunts the house?
